Starting with a discussion about your goals, we can create the perfect tree plan for you!  We only recommend trees that do well in Middle Tennessee and will never recommend or plant something just because it looks good today.  We only plant trees that will thrive long term in our climate.

Tree Planting

Whether you are looking for more privacy or simply want to change the feel of your property, we are here to help!  We have a variety of trees in stock and ready to plant.  We specialize in evergreen hedges using plants such as Nellie Stevens Holly, Green Giants and various Magnolia cultivars.  We also stock a variety of fruit trees in much larger sizes than you will find at your local nursery or big box store.  Are you looking to produce fruit soon?  If so, start with a larger tree!!!

Frequently Asked Questions

Please contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question.

We plant trees because we love them and want to beautify the environment.  All of our planting practices are focused on ensuring your tree is healthy for decades to come.  Many landscapers plant a tree as fast as they can using subpar practices because they know that the tree will do fine for the first four or five years regardless of how they plant it.

  • We always dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball to ensure your trees roots can spread properly.
  • We water in the backfill and never step on your rootball or the backfill to make sure the soil doesn't compress too much leading to a lack of oxygen.
  • We ensure that your trees are not planted too deep in the ground to prevent root girdling.  We never plant a tree without making sure the root collar is at the proper depth.
  • We never create mulch volcanos to ensure that your trees trunk stays healthy.

We specialize in evergreen hedges for privacy.  These usually contain Hollies, Magnolias and Green Giants.  These trees do extremely well in Middle Tennessee and also grow quickly.  We will not plant Leyland Cypress due to various health issues.  We also plant a variety of deciduous trees such as Crepe Myrtles, Maples, Oaks, fruit trees and many more.

Middle Tennessee has mild enough winters that trees can be planted all year long.  That being said, we do not plant from June-August due to the extra watering that is required to keep a tree alive if planted during the summer.

There are many factors that go into this answer. It depends on the type of tree, the size of tree, the hours of sunlight it receives, the soil type, container/B&B and how long the tree has been in the ground. When we plant your new trees we will give you a customized watering schedule that takes into account all of the variables above. That being said, here are some rough guidelines.

  • Trees are generally considered "established" after two summers (there are exceptions to this for very large trees).  Once a tree is established, you only need to water it during drought conditions (except for fruit trees).
  • Until trees are established they need watered at least once a week.  If it hasn't rained at least an inch in the last week then you need to water.
  • If your tree was planted in the fall or winter then you will most likely be ok with weekly watering during its first summer.  If your tree was planted in the spring you will need to water twice per week during its first summer.   We don't recommend summer planting, but if you do plant a tree during the summer we recommend watering it three times per week until cooler fall temps arrive.
  • The goal is to ensure that the soil at the bottom of the root ball is consistently damp but you do not want the tree sitting in a puddle of water all the time.

Many of the trees we plant come from our farm here in Franklin, TN.  We believe that plants grown close to where they will eventually be planted will be better able to withstand everything the local climate can throw at them!  We can also source many different plants from our neaby wholesale contacts.

Many of our clients want instant privacy and that is something we can offer!  We grow most of our evergreen plants in a tight formation so that they are ready to become your instant hedge!

We often plant dedciduous trees that are 15-20 feet tall in order to give our clients instant gratification with their landscape.  When it comes to evergreen trees, we generally don't recommend planting anything over 10-12 feet.
